Organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (the CMA), the 59th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE) officially opens today at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. This 24-day annual shopping extravaganza features comprehensive upgrades in product selection, discounts, prizes and giveaways, as well as entertainment programmes. By integrating community care initiatives, the expo invites the public to celebrate a heartwarming and festive Christmas and New Year holiday season.
CMA President Dr Wingco Lo stated that over the past year, Hong Kong’s society and economy have demonstrated remarkable resilience, supported in part by the mega-event economy and the steady recovery of the retail and tourism sectors. He added, “Building on this positive momentum, this year’s expo aims to further stimulate local consumption and inject new vitality into the economy by enhancing exhibition content and consumer incentives.
Unveiling amazing deals for an elevated shopping experience
This year’s expo features 12 major thematic zones, covering food and beverages, dried seafood and tonics, healthcare products, kitchen appliances, and global delicacies and wines. The organiser has partnered with exhibitors to launch multiple exclusive offers, including selected products available for as low as “HK$1” or at “90% off”, additional discounts with designated electronic payment methods, and lucky draws and giveaways with prizes worth a total of HK$4 million—all designed to deliver an exceptional value-for-money shopping experience to visitors.
The CMA consistently enriches the expo’s offerings in response to evolving market trends. This year, two new thematic zones have been introduced: Hometown Flavors Zone and Senior Vitality Zone. The Hometown Flavors Zone gathers specialty products from 12 Mainland provinces and cities, allowing locals to savour authentic tastes without traveling. The Senior Vitality Zone curates premium healthcare products and the latest lifestyle information tailored to the needs of older adults. In addition, over 100 exhibitors are participating in the “Silver Consumption Privileges”, offering an additional discount of at least 5% to Senior Citizen Card or JoyYou Card holders, further demonstrating their commitment to caring for the elderly.
The dazzling array of food choices remains a highlight of the HKBPE. The Food Plaza and the Chillax Zone feature over 100 kinds of gourmet foods and alcoholic beverages. In particular, the Chillax Zone will offer 30 complimentary glasses of red or white wine daily at 3pm on a first-come, first-served basis.
Spreading warmth through extended community care
Mr Ivan Sze, Vice President of the CMA and Chairman of CMA Exhibition Services Limited, highlighted that the HKBPE is more than an economy platform. It is also a catalyst for community engagement and social inclusion. During the expo, the organiser collaborates with various performance troupes to stage a series of spectacular shows, bringing positive energy to visitors. “To engage all age groups, we are not only organising the iconic ‘Miss Exhibition Pageant’ and the family-favourite ‘HKBPE Super Kid Model Contest’,” Mr Sze said. “This year, we are also introducing something new—the ‘DJ Mixing Competition’. We hope the music will energise the event and attract even more young participants.”
Upholding the belief in “business for good”, this year’s expo continues to offer free booths to charities, social enterprises, and rehabilitation service units. In addition, the organiser has partnered with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Yan Oi Tong, and Hong Kong Single Parents Association to invite underprivileged individuals to visit the expo. Each receives a HK$300 shopping allowance, enabling them to enjoy the festive warmth.
As part of efforts to further promote social harmony, students from CMA Secondary School will be paired with elderly citizens for one-on-one guided tours at the expo. The initiative aims to foster intergenerational bonds and encourage mutual understanding between young people and seniors.
Admission fee is HK$10. The CMA has already donated a portion of its ticket revenue to support residents affected by the Tai Po fire. During the Christmas holiday period (23 to 31 December), opening hours will be extended to 10pm. On other days, the HKBPE closes at 9pm, except for the final day when it closes at 8pm. Admission is free every evening after 7pm except for the final day.
